In the 1970’s, one of the cheapest ways to see Europe was to go on a camping tour. We chose Autotours and our first night in Paris turned out to be a disaster. We were the cooks and had to try and fry suspect ‘chops’ in a leaking tent, and then discovered out tent had leaked too. Funny in retrospect!
Young and careless
Hitch-hiking has its risks but in the 1970’s we saw it as the cheapest way to get around. This was how what we did to get to see the Edinburgh Tattoo before linking up with a camping tour to Scandanavia. We almost didn’t get to do either though, because of my carelessness…
